About the Role

We are looking for a compassionate, motivated, and experienced Deputy Manager to join our two-bedded children’s home in Leicester. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support the Registered Manager in leading a dedicated team, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and high-quality environment for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

As a Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional care, maintaining regulatory compliance, and developing staff potential, all while keeping the best interests of the children at the heart of everything you do.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring high standards of care and compliance with Ofsted regulations.
• Act as the lead in the absence of the Registered Manager, making key decisions and ensuring smooth operations.
• Assist in staff supervision, training, and development, helping to build a strong, skilled, and motivated team.
• Contribute to the design, implementation, and review of personalised care plans that support positive outcomes for children.
• Promote a therapeutic and trauma-informed approach to care, ensuring children feel safe, supported, and valued.
• Manage staff rotas and shift planning, ensuring adequate cover and a consistent approach to care.
• Support in budget management, ensuring financial accountability and effective resource allocation.
• Act as a role model for staff, demonstrating best practices in child-centred care and behaviour management.
• Ensure the home remains compliant with all statutory and regulatory requirements, including safeguarding policies.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation, ensuring all children’s progress is well-documented.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with external agencies, including social workers, education providers, and health professionals.

Requirements

Requirements:

• Minimum of two years’ experience in a children’s residential care setting, with experience in a supervisory or senior role.

• Strong knowledge of children’s home regulations, safeguarding, and child protection policies.

• NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – Level 5 in Leadership & Management (or willingness to complete).

• A strong understanding of child development, trauma-informed practice, and behavioural support strategies.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations effectively.

• A commitment to delivering outstanding care and achieving positive outcomes for children.
